A word from the Head of Primary
At The North Green School, Primary education is built on strong foundations — in learning, in routine, and in care.
As Head of Primary, my responsibility is to ensure that our children continue to learn confidently, steadily, and with clarity, whatever the learning environment. Our Online School Programme enables us to maintain consistency and high standards for children at every Primary stage.
For our Year 6 families, I would like to offer particular reassurance. Preparation for the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint examinations continues as planned. These Checkpoint exams are an important milestone, and our teachers are constantly mindful of the Cambridge International Education expectations and standards that students are required to meet.
Teaching and revision are carefully aligned to the Checkpoint framework, with regular monitoring of progress to identify strengths and address gaps early. Parents can be confident that learning remains purposeful and well paced, and that when the Checkpoint exams are administered, our students will be ready — academically, emotionally, and in their approach to learning.
For our younger Primary learners, online learning is designed to be age-appropriate, engaging, and balanced. Lessons follow clear routines, include active participation, and are carefully structured to ensure manageable screen time. Teachers maintain a strong presence in lessons so that children feel secure, supported, and encouraged.
Across the Primary School, online learning focuses on:
- Consistency of routine, which supports confidence and focus
- Clear, teacher-led instruction, especially in core subjects
- Progress tracking aligned to Cambridge expectations
- Regular feedback and guidance to support steady improvement
- Emotional wellbeing, reassurance, and a calm learning rhythm
Parents remain important partners during this time, particularly for younger children, and we appreciate your support in establishing daily routines and learning spaces at home.
Our aim is simple: to ensure that every Primary child continues to grow academically, socially, and emotionally — with confidence and continuity.
At TNGS, when routines change, our commitment does not.
We continue learning.
We continue growing.
And we Keep On Moving.
