The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining

- John F. Kennedy

We practise online learning regularly not because we expect disruption, but because preparedness itself has value. When systems are familiar, transitions become seamless.

Continuity Monday keeps our digital infrastructure active, our routines sharp, and our community connected. Whether school continues on campus or shifts online, learning never stops at The North Green School.

Who participates

Continuity Monday applies to students from Year 3 through to Year 13. These year groups have the independence and digital literacy to manage online learning effectively, and regular practice prepares them for the technology-driven environments they will encounter in higher education and careers.

Students in Year 2 and below remain on campus every Monday. Young learners benefit most from the structure, social interaction, and hands-on guidance that in-person teaching provides at this foundational stage of their development.

How it works

On designated Mondays, participating students learn from home following their regular timetable. They join live lessons via Google Meet, with attendance marked just as it would be on campus. All materials and assignments are accessed through Google Classroom.

Continuity days are communicated in advance, giving families time to prepare. This is not self-paced work or assignments posted for later – these are real-time, teacher-led lessons requiring active participation throughout the school day.

Preparing for a digital world

Today's students will enter workplaces where remote collaboration, video conferencing, and digital tools are standard. Continuity Monday builds these competencies naturally – students learn to manage their time, communicate professionally online, and navigate digital platforms with confidence.

Beyond technical skills, regular online learning develops self-discipline and independence. Students who can focus and perform in a home environment are better prepared for university study and the flexible working arrangements that define modern careers.

Campus life remains central

Continuity Monday enhances rather than replaces the on-campus experience. Four days each week, students benefit from face-to-face teaching, hands-on activities, sports, arts, and the social connections that shape young people. Physical school remains the foundation of education at TNGS.

Our approach gives students the best of both worlds: the irreplaceable richness of campus life combined with the digital fluency that their futures demand. When circumstances require extended online learning, our community is ready – not scrambling to adapt, but continuing without interruption.
